Cafe Ysabel at Night

This blog entry was supposed to be posted around December of 2010. I never really got around to posting it (until now) because I was hoping for better photos…maybe during the day, when my camera is at its strongest (Shin-chan2 is just so weak in low light).

But I guess I won’t be having a social life any time soon, so I might as well post about the things I miss doing.

Anyhoo, Cris (shown in photo) and I visited Café Ysabel during the evening and their lighting was extremely red, so pardon the yellowish photos.

As expected, the interiors were beautiful in that traditional Spanish-Filipino sort of way. I should have taken photos of the washroom, since there were vintage-inspired posters, but I was feeling a bit too shy. Didn’t want people to think I’m being weird.

Anyhoo, on to the food.

This is the appetizer, bread dipped in tangy sauce (that reminds me of that Italian combination of balsamic vinegar and oil). Actually…this was enough to make me feel full. xD

Stuffed mushrooms. Yum!

I think these were onion rings. They’re pretty huge!

I don’t know how Cris finished this up. That’s bacon on top of cheese and mushroom, slathered all over french bread and baked into perfection then served with fries. Do you feel your arteries clogging now?

Pasta. If I remember correctly, this is almost like seafood pasta.

The dessert: strawberry shortcake. Absolutely divine. Besides, I love strawberry shortcakes.

Cris is a sucker for crepes, so she had one with delicious mango filling and topped with ice cream.

This is how Café Ysabel looks like form the outside. Pretty, isn’t she?

When you look at the menu, you might initially get shocked at the prices. When you see the servings, however, you just might agree with me when I say that they’re very reasonable. What we ordered were actually good for about four to five people.

I’d highly recommend this restaurant, although I’d really love to see it during the day (even if it looks so romantic at night).

Café Ysabel is located at 455 P. Guevarra Street, San Juan Metro Manila. You may call them at (632) 726-9326 and (632) 725-5089.
