The Cookie Jar
Yet another late posting, ARRR!
Last month, baker Rae Corpuz contacted me about her new business, The Cookie Jar. The concept is quite unique and it took me a while to wrap my head around it, so I waited for her to show me what it was that she meant when she said cookie mixes in a jar. (Baking dunce over here. I just like to eat. And help Cris out when she’s baking.)
Here’s what she told me about the concept:
I started with cookie mixes in a jar. They are measured ingredients for cookies arranged in a jar in cute layers, which allows you to bake homemade cookies in ten minutes flat (just add butter, egg, and vanilla). This is perfect for beginner bakers, and moms and kids can bond while baking it as well. I can differentiate it from store-bought cookie mixes in a way that mine have variety of “flavors,” and nothing beats homemade, gourmet cookies.
I also sold baked versions of these. This year, I’ve decided to sell more products, including French Macarons, Lemon Cream Cheese Bars, Dulce de Leche brownies, and Chunky Walnut Bars.
Oh my gosh, those macarons were lovely! Lovely, I tell ya. I am such a French macaron fan and I definitely loved biting into these.
Everyone who’s very familiar with this blog would know how much I hate eating chocolates (as opposed to drinking them), but I was actually quite surprised to find out how delicious The Cookie Jar’s chocolate macarons are. Love the texture and the chewy goodness!
These were inside the tin can that came with the jar. I’m not so fond of the chocolate chip cookies, though. I find them too sweet. Maybe that sweetness could be tempered by oatmeal? Then again, who am I to judge since I really don’t like eating chocolates.
Except for this.
The mix inside the jar resulted in this. Since I don’t have an oven, it was Cris who did the baking. She added lots of vanilla. The finished products were a mix of crunchy and chewy cookies. Our other friend Cham went for the chewy ones, while I dove into the crunchy pieces.
And then we promptly blamed this batch for making us fat since we couldn’t get our hands off them. We really stuffed our faces with these yummies!
