Dove Beauty Event
So when Rowena texted me about Dove and that the event is being arranged by Bridges, I immediately said yes. I was sad not to have seen Michelle, but at least Rowena and a lot of the familiar beauty bloggers are there, especially Jennie, Shen, Nikki, Mother Noemi and Sophie. Note to self: Arrange a schedule with Michelle X2 (Lim and MrsM) and Rowena. Now na.
Anyhoo…
The event was held at the Ascott Japan room and it started with Gem’s brief lecture about moisture. Apparently, not a lot of people are aware that despite the humidity in our country, we need moisture.
A more scientific discussion ensued when Dr. Tiongson stepped in. She explained the differences in skin types and moisture levels. We later took a skin quiz and it said that I am 19 years old. CHOS! (I could actually add one more factor to this quiz: SLEEP. Which I have been deprived of for two months now. So I actually feel like I’m about 10 years older now, since I never feel refreshed when waking up anymore.)
Incidentally, one other reason why I said yes to this event is that Dove is one of the very few drugstore brands I actually believe in. I am a very lazy person and I loathe applying lotion on my skin (sometimes I even skip the sunblock). With Dove, I can actually feel that I’m getting moisture, even if it’s not as thorough as actually applying body lotion.
COMMERCIAL BREAK: FOOD!
Couldn’t resist taking photos of these yummies. I picked this photo instead of a more focused one because I neglected to take a snapshot of the pizzas we enjoyed for appetizers. You can see one of them at the back of the pasta. There were more than three types served! In fact, before this pasta came in, I was already almost full.
And these babies were part of the dessert. Of course, I enjoyed the fruit platter and I normally don’t enjoy eating chocolates (I like drinking them), but these had caramel in the middle. Caramel with chocolate is something I cannot resist. So yeah, this pastry is as good as it looks.
Ok, back to the program…Hehe.
During dinner, the good doctor sat with us so that we can have our individual consultations. Here’s Jennie, asking about her skin. I’m guessing she was talking about the corners of her eyes. Haha.
Me taking the skin test. (Gosh, I really look like I’ve aged 10 years. I also look like I’ve lost a lot of pounds. *Sigh* How I wish the last part were actually true.) My moisture level was originally at 31% and then after soaping with Dove, it went up to around 40-41%.
After the tests, we were treated to a “No make-up make-up look” lecture, given by none other than Ms. Xeng Zulueta. (She actually looks a lot younger now than when I last saw her around three to four years ago, when I attended her lecture at the Shu Uemura counter in Rustan’s Makati.)
She has a lot of useful advice for people like me, who prefer products that can do a lot of things (3-in-1 etc.) instead of putting on too many on your skin. It’s actually because I’m really lazy and I actually hate the hassle of putting on make-up…but how else would you hide a haggard face, ne?
Wow, a lot of beauty bloggers flocking towards Ms. Zulueta. She’s a veritable idol. Really. She’s nice, sweet, intelligent and really witty. Who wouldn’t want to be around her?
The Dove products I took home. Sorry, am not giving these away. They’re all mine. Hahahaha!

July 2, 2011 at 6:59 amYou actually can, just don't skip the sunblock.
But if your skin is super dry, you still need to moisturize.
Rowena's husband's favorite moisturizer is that Clinique Super Defense with 25 SPF.
