Miel: The African Barbie
The first time I saw her in HUCOMIN class last term, I immediately piped up: “You know, you could be a model.”
Miel is of African descent and has really distinct features that all blend into this one beautiful face. When you see her with the rest of the pretty mestizas strutting onstage, she really stands out. Of course, the shoray hair helped a whole lot. In these photos, I was awed with how she projected. She looked like Barbie!
I experimented with different white balances here. My favorites are daylight (for the yellow effect) and white fluorescent light. Tungsten hates me. Of course, it depends on where you put the strobes. Wish the photos could be sharper, though. I only got it right on the last shot. Haha!
I got really exhausted halfway through (that was from chasing the models in the GE Fashion Show) so I rested beside her. Lei, Red and Arvin took photos of me and Miel but I protested about posting them. I was like, “Hallo! Pwede ka na mag-prito ng itlog sa mukha ko tapos itatabi niyo ako kay Miel. Mukha akong P.J.! (Personal Jalalay)”
(Lei, however, managed to capture angles that I never thought I had. I hate seeing pictures of me laughing. My face gets all scrunched up. But Lei did things differently. Kudos to you!)

August 24, 2008 at 12:40 pmnung pinakita ni red how to use it, medyo hindi ako comfy kasi parang ang dilim wala akong makita. eto kasi puro test sa lighting and white balance. nung finally nakuha ko na ang timplang gusto ko…pagod na ako. XD
may pagagamitan pa naman ako niyang shots na yan kahit blurry. kasi tatanggalin ko siya sa studio setup.
