I actually wrote an extensive review of Corregidor Hotel at Spot.ph before but…well, I can’t find it now. I’ve been to the area twice since then.  The first was in 2008, which was an academic field trip. The second one was last year.  I didn’t get to see the church so I went back for it.

I’m writing about my 2008 experience, so this is basically a reconstruction of what I had written during that time. The supporting photos are also from that trip.

Blast it. It was only after we left that I realized there was another way I could shoot something that had that kind of awkward elongated shape (that’s supported by a rather heavy…bottom).

The Light House is basically a place where you can buy souvenirs. There is also one building there that lets you see a beautiful view of Corregidor, as long as you’re not too scared to go all the way to the top.

The souvenir shops themselves are quaint little structures that seem to attract a lot of…brooding students. As you can see from these three pics…

The best room in Corregidor Hotel is the honeymoon suite, were all the faculty members were billeted.  The bathroom is clean and the lights are very romantic.  There’s a huge, canopied bed at the far side of the room, while the rest of the space is meant for visitors.  It was just so lovely.

The hotel is two storeys high, so you have to take the stairs to the second floor, where this suite is located.  I like the stairs. I like the hallways in general. You can actually feel the historical relevance of the place, ghostly tales notwithstanding.

Before you can get to the first floor of the hotel, however, you must go through these first flights of stairs. Oro!

The tour comes with a free buffet; the rest, you’ll have to pay for on your own.  The only thing that’s quite off-putting is the price of the food, especially when the taste isn’t all that spectacular. Weighing the service, however, I shouldn’t be complaining.  The waiters and staff are friendly and attentive.  I have no reason to complain.  The Corregidor tour package in its entirety is inexpensive, considering it’s both fun AND educational.

If you want a cheaper meal, though, you can walk down one of the streets. There’s a cafeteria type restaurant there that may not be as classy as the hotel, but sports the same historical feel as the rest of the island.
