The Chocolate Kiss at UP Diliman

I’ve actually reviewed this on a popular website before. (But they lost my review so…I learned my lesson about keeping copies of my write-ups.) Chocolate Kiss, fondly called ChoKiss for short, is one of my favorite places in UP Diliman and I usually go there when I have the budget. When I don’t have the budget, I make tambay at Manang Fishball’s beside my college, Mass Comm.

Anyway, last week, during enrollment, Cris and I were seated in the darkest part of ChoKiss. The place was packed, since the new semester had just started. That was why I had trouble adjusting my camera settings. I’m not too happy about my photos here, so I apologize in advance.

Our staple drinks: Regular Coke for Cris and bottomless ChoKiss House Iced Tea for me.

Cris loves their Pancit Molo. The bowl is literally sweating with its flavor.

Beef Stroganoff. Another one of Cris’s beloved ChoKiss dishes.

I usually order seafood, chicken or baked potatoes, but I felt like having Quesadilla this time around. My sister doesn’t like this because it has more veggies than actual meat, but I think it tastes fine.

Kahlua Butter Cake. It doesn’t look like your regular butter cake because, according to the menu, it’s a “full-flavored coffee liqueur mocha butter cake with Kahlua fudge filling and coffee butter icing.”

This is one of the cakes that Cris obsesses over.

And this is what I always get for dessert whenever I’m at ChoKiss: Dayap Chiffon Cake. I didn’t know what Dayap is until I tasted this. I love love love love their chiffon. It doesn’t taste like air and does, in fact, melt in your mouth. The menu’s description alone makes my mouth water: “Moist chiffon cake and caramel filling flavored with fresh grated dayap zest, frosted with marshmallow icing and candied dayap rind.”

Hm. I want to go back so I can take better photos. *Sigh*
