What is your MAJOR MAJOR answer? (Best comment wins a Larry Alcala Solo Shirt!)

In defense of our lovely Ms. Philippines 2010, Venus Raj, I could say that there was no way of answering that question publicly. I had made my “major major” mistake when I was in my mid twenties and I would not have divulged that on national television. She’s only 22, almost fresh out of college, led a very straight life because she came from the rural poor (she lived in a nipa hut in the middle of rice fields!) and was determined to turn it all around. What kind of big mistake was she supposed to say? That she only hit Cum Laude status and not Suma Cum Laude upon graduation? I would not even consider her dethronement from — and eventual reinstatement to — the Bb. Pilipinas pageant her mistake.

Here, as ABC News reports, are other people who had difficulty formulating an impromptu answer to this question. Notice that many of them are highly intelligent.

How about you? How would you have answered that question?

Best MAJOR MAJOR answer in the comment box wins a free Solo Shirt from the Larry Alcala Collection. This contest will run until September 15, 2010. You can have as many entries as possible, so keep ’em coming!

Want a chance to win a shirt from this collection? Be as fashionable and hip as Venus Raj and try to answer her Ms. Universe question (via comments): “What is one big mistake that you’ve made in your life, and what did you do to make it right?”

The major major mistake that I have done in my life so far was the fact that I wasn't able to graduate in time. I stopped after finishing my 2nd year college in Nursing due to personal problem. If I have continued it, I wouldve graduated last March.I wouldn't consider it a major mistake if I was the only one affected but since my family was in pain and disappointed as well, I blame myself for all the heartaches. Now, I can say that It made me a better person and a pogi-er person haha.Best lessons come from Bad situation-adi

    My major major mistake:

It took me 21 years to realize that life really is short. One car accident was all I needed to take a step back and reevaluate my life.

Four years ago, I quit golf. I got burnt out so bad from playing competitively that one day I just gave it all up. I gave up all the 8 years I've invested playing that sport.

The morning after the accident my dad talked to me. He told me that maybe it's time that I rethink my life. Upon hearing that, I knew the answer. I did not need to soul search. I did not need to weigh my opportunities. I knew I would take up golf again. But this time I'm giving it all I can.

The biggest mistake in my 20yrs of living is that I was willing to leave my friends who were there with me through thick and thin for the guy that i just met for few months and love him nevertheless.

But, the guy talk to me immediately and made me realize that i should not leave my friends behind for the sake of him because he friends are more important than him. It took me a while before realizing what he had said was true.

I accepted it and move on. Now, I am thankful that he had stopped me from what I was about to do and I learned the lesson that I should never leave the people who were there for me when i needed them and because they are the one who made me the way who I am.

I'll give this a try, I guess. It couldn't hurt.

    Major major mistake?

when I first entered college in La Salle, I heard incessant nagging from my parents about not getting distracted in my studies, that long breaks are bad and I should moderate my gaming, or else.

So yeah, long story short, I still did all that and I flunked out of La Salle.

Next year, I learned the value of hard-earned money first hand. That was but one of my punishments. I couldn't take the call-center life after two years.

The year I entered APC is the year my batch from La Salle graduated.

So yeah, I tend to measure the gravity of my mistakes from the consequences they garner. It's obvious that this one comes to mind.

There came a time when I questioned God. I got tired of praying and asking Him for answers. But still He guided me in my decisions and I thank Him for that. I renewed my faith. Now I'm back in His arms.

I believe that nobody's perfect and at one point in our lives, we would definitely make mistakes. I, myself, have made a lot of mistakes before but I do not really focus on the 'mistake'. I'd rather focus on the MAJOR learning I had from that mistake.

    My Major Major Mistake was…

when I didn't take my portfolio class seriously. I ended up delayed for graduation. Imagine my hands were so close at getting my diploma but one major major mistake of being too complacent failed me miserably. Now, I learned that you must keep on track the game. 🙂
