Department of Foreign Affairs, For the Win!

Rating: ★★★★
Category: Other

I had been panicking for a while now as I thought I had run out of time to renew my passport (it turns out that I cannot travel NOW because my passport has to be good for 6 months more). So I went to a travel agency, whose rep has stopped replying to my texts yesterday, and found out that if I wanted to be quick, I had to go to the Department of Foreign Affairs myself… >> Review continued at Skysenshi.com

There's http://www.passport.com.ph, too, which my sister used and someone processed everything for her (except for the personal appearance part). But really, what for? The process is so easy (counter for evaluation and thumb prints, cashier, and then yet another set of thumb prints…that's it). Even those that didn't have appointments got their stuff finished quickly. This thing is faster than having your driver's license renewed, I swear! If I wasn't in a hurry, I could use the website, but I was in a real hurry. My US visa expires next month and I have to use it again.

Ahaha! Sample scenario at the sidewalks…

Big Man: PSST. *waving his stick around* Taga-DFA ako, dito ka.
(repeat about three times; the scowl I was sporting didn't seem to drive my point across)
    Me: Cheh. Wag ka makulit.

hindi nga coaxing yung ginagawa niya eh, outright bullying. tapang-tapangan galore (na puro “oist” at “pssst” ang laman ng sentences niya). sorry siya, mas masungit ako than my terrorista-looking passport photo. pero pag pasok ko sa DFA award naman. i was smiling na at everyone because they're so courteous.

    Buti naman they're efficient.

Just renewed my driver's license. From start to finish (including medical tests and waiting to pee for the drug test) took around 2 hours. Could be faster, but I'm happy with it as it is. Also, they have escorts to take you around the medical test centers outside so you don't get bothered by fixers.

Wow, answered prayer or what! My twin sister is actually worried din because her passport will expire by February I think. We're going to China in October and baka kelangan din niya pumunta sa DFA? What do you think? Should she schedule an appointment already? She's leaving for China on the 17th eh. Ako naman no problem kasi September 2011 pa expiry ng passport ko and i'm leaving on the 28th.

if she schedules now, she'd prolly get an appointment by monday. pero feeling ko di siya issue for China eh. issue siya for the US. feeling nila napaka-ganda ng bansa nila para mag-TNT tayo dun. actually, kung mag-TNT ako baka sa Canada pa. hahahah!

Wow, so you're headed to the US pala? 😀 So, do you think it's okay if she doesn't renew her passport anymore? Well, if ever she will decide to make sure. What does she need to bring and how much will for the fees (if there's any..)

i think it's better if she renews. i wanted to try the e-passport thing, though. what i have is the MRP. i paid P750 for expedited processing. i need my passport before i leave on the 21st but it's going to be available on the 12th already. it's P500 for regular processing, which would make my passport available on the 21st…i can't afford to wait that long kasi flight ko is exactly on the 21st. XD

haha! kaya nga expedited processing na lang kinuha ko. eto pa nakakaasar, when i got to my parents' house, i found out that my credit card limit has been increased tapos puwede naman pala ako mag-paylite sa travel. gah! isang bagsakan ko binayaran yung plane ticket na yun. (laki pa ng diff sa presyo kung earlier flight, kung 20 ako aalis, mas mahal by about $60.)
