Another Zen-ized Home: My New Place

I remember moving into VC two to three years ago and I posted pictures about it being “Zen-ized”. This new home, which my sis and I moved into over the weekend, is actually more zen as the new wooden partition (this used to be a studio unit) and furniture gave it the Japanese spa feel.

There are still a lot of things to be fixed (plumbing, electric wiring, internet etc.), which is why I’m going to have to spend my offset days on having those things repaired.

Highlights

  • Great view of the city, especially at night. This is similar to my experience at VC. The only problem is the lack of curtains because we’re back to dealing with voyeurism. Also, that view used to be a lot nicer. Now two gargantuan buildings, Accenture being one of them, covers the river view.
  • APARADOR!!! Our mom told my sister that they can only have one cabinet made due to lack of funds. When my sister saw two cabinets and saw the size, she was aghast. “I thought you were going to have one cabinet made…not two mini houses. My Paolo and Ate’s Nicco can fit in here!” And they’re not small boys, mind you. If I wanted to have Cris and Kwini spend the night at my place, they can actually sleep in the drawers.
  • My gawd, the travel time! I used to live in Makati, but it used to take me one hour to get to APC (which is also in Makati) because I would take a jeep to the safest taxi bay. Now, all I have to do is go out of the building, line up in the condo’s own taxi bay and the guard automatically hails all incoming cabs. Apparently, it’s part of their job description. I thought I was going to come in late because I was feeling lazy and left at 7.30AM. I arrived at 7.45AM, 15 minutes early for my log in time. To think that I live farther from Makati now.
  • The security is top notch. You cannot go anywhere without the access card key. It has to beep, like an e-pass, before you can press any of the elevator buttons. The same is true for parking. The only inconvient part here is if you want to have anything delivered. There are also roving guards. Plus, you just can’t leave anything (like keys) to the lobby guard as this is still part of their security measures.
  • Okay, if you’re new to the building, prepare to get confused as there are actually 3 (or is it 4?) towers that are interconnected at the lobby and the parking area. My mom’s card key got blocked because she was trying to use it in another tower, not knowing that she wasn’t in our tower. Thank goodness, mine didn’t get blocked. I made the same mistake when I was moving in.
  • The problem with our partition is that our bedroom is now too big. Our intended lounge area became smaller. Also, all our electric outlets seem to be concentrated in the bedroom. -_-;;;
  • We live right across Summit Publishing and Robinson’s Pioneer. Walking distance to the MRT station. Talk about convenience!

Anyway, I’m still pretty happy with this place. It’s a bit more expensive than I had intented but the convenience it affords — especially since I work in APC and study in UP — makes up for it.
