The Forbidden Kingdom

Rating: ★★★★

Seeing Jet Li and Jackie Chan in one poster almost made me go into a seizure. The fact that Jet Li was in period clothing — something I had not seen since his Once Upon A Time In China days — made the seizure go up a notch.

I decided right there and then that I was going to see this film, even though I had set myself up for disappointment. The movie was about a Kung Fu obsessed American teenager, after all. I was very sure that if they were going to make this into something like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon meets The Last Samurai, it was bound to fail. Then again, I’ve always been a sucker for great action scenes, bad story lines notwithstanding. Why else was I highly entertained by Street Fighter II Movie and Naked Weapon (starring Maggie Q)?

I was pleasantly surprised to find that despite the seriousness of the premise — it is loosely based on the Chinese classic Journey to the West (西遊記) — Chan and Li provided much hilarity. Putting them in one motion picture was a stroke of genius! Who would’ve guessed that they’d have excellent chemistry? The treatment was light-hearted, fast-paced and action-packed. I wished the choreography could’ve been smoother, but hey, I may never get to see Chan and Li together again.>>> Read more at>>>

hehehe watched it last night…. aliw… for me it's best version of the Journey to the West so far… hihihi i would have rated it a five but all through out the movie… each time the girl playing Sparrow opens her mouth… I get a mental slap in the face. =( She can't speak well… I can feel the effort it takes her to deliver lines in a well modulated voice. She's can't move gracefully too… she looks pretty only when she's keeping still. hahaha sorry dito na nagbashing. =P

Oh a friend of mine not familiar with Journey to the West… and Son Goku in general found the movie boring… said the story was lackluster. hehehe I guess being fans of Jet Li and Jackie Chan and familiarity with the story made the movie really enjoyable for me. ^_^

haaaayyyy….. now am itching to watch Gensomaden Saiyuki again. wahahaha

Son Goku nga ako ng Son Goku. Hahahahaha!

Shet. I just realized that something's wrong with my site… Nawala ang single.php (hence, nawala ang comments and it's prolly redirecting to page.php) and now I can't sleep kasi ang bagal ng server and I'm itching to reconstruct it. My mind won't stop thinking about it. Huwaaaaaaaaah! I think this is how the WEBDEV3 students felt when their servers were being slow while they were doing their finals…

Tingnan mo, wala man lang dito yung American bida. GOOD!
Hindi ko alam ba't sinama pa yun sa story, eh bebenta naman kahit si Jet-Li lang at Jackie Chan.

they prolly wanted to revive the karate kid. but Journey to the West is already a good story on its own. had they fleshed that out, i would've given it a perfect 10.

shet. down site ko. hahaha! andun yung complete review. but nagpaalam naman si sir bob. lam mo naman. the usual yung nangyayari sakin kahit saang hosting. they're still looking for the culprit. sana mahanap nila bago ako lumipat sa bigger account.

Sa States…hindi. Ang mga hits nina Jet Li at Jackie Chan puro may Western pair. eeewwww. Mas ok pag sila lang. Something that Americans don't get. But producers get it big time….they love the Asian market. =P
