2nd Anniversary Dinner at Chef Popit’s
Nicco was asking if we could celebrate our next anniversary privately. He’s a very quiet/private geek (we’ve been together 2 years, friends for 6, and he doesn’t even know I’m madaldal). I told him, “Oh, you’d love our celebration tonight. It’s really just the two of us!” He still thought we were going to a fancy restaurant full of people and that when I said “just the two of us” he thought I meant that it’s only applicable to our table. Well, he thought wrong. Hehe.
I was so excited about our private anniversary dinner at Chef Popit’s that we were there early. I didn’t know that the place was right behind the Pacific Star Building, where I used to work as one of Level Up!’s gameplay specialists. So yeah…I didn’t know that we were that near.
Anyway the menu we chose from Chef Popit’s Valentine Selection:
Cocktail
Screwdriver
Canape
Tapenade toasts
Soup
Soupe de poisson
Salad
Mixed greens with raspberry vinaigrette
Appetizer
Tomate farcie
EntrΓ©es
Baked mahi mahi with a sweet pepper sauce on a red onion compote
Chicken cordon bleu with cream sauce
Lamb chop with jus lis on risotto
Dessert
Crème brulee
Coffee or tea
Okay…so I didn’t realize it really was an 8-course meal until we started counting the dishes, beginning from the fourth course. Chef Popit was like our personal cheering squad, “Go, Bea! Hey, you’re slowing down!”
I nearly ruined the dinner because I kept contacting my witness and my lawyer and I had my planner with me (school, work, rakets, thesisyak). Nicco was right to complain, although he was a sweetheart when he realized that the screwdriver was screwing with my head big time. Good thing my stomach was happy. I was happy-busog, not umay-busog and that’s saying something. See, I was expecting rich, fatty stuff, but it turns out that the food was really healthy. No starch, no OA creams. The flavors came from different sorts of herbs and berries. Mmmmmm… So yeah…I downed it all. Didn’t even realize we were there for nearly 2 hours. The pacing was just right, although it really is filling.
The mahi mahi actually scared the heck out of me. It was huge! That was when I started to feel full. But I soldiered on because I know that there’s creme brulee (my favorite dessert) waiting at the end of the line. Nicco loves lamb, which is why we chose Menu 2.
Grabe, Jag! Thanks for this amazing discovery!

We're going there this friday, feb. 9 and my wife doesn't have a clue yet ;-p.
Feb. 9 is our unofficial anniversary (the official one being Oct 10 when we got married).
Counting from that date, Feb. 9, 1992, we've been together for…wow…15 years π
