Zaido: The Bastardization of Shaider

The effects were good. The costumes were good. The 3D CG is always as good. Heck, even the Miraclers danced in such a funny way during the intro, I was almost excited.

Until I saw the story unfold. The episode uploaded in YouTube was divided into 6 parts but I was fast forwarding like crazy. Since when is being a Space Sheriff a birth right? Also, I wouldn’t mind the fact that they’re ripping off Star Wars (or that I’m seeing M. Bison in a Star Wars rip-off), but heck. They could do something about the dialogues at least! Every time the actors utter their lines, my eyes roll so far back, I feel like I have to fish them out of my nape.

Our penchant for over-dramatization just leaves me speechless sometimes. In any case, Wikipedia writers are speculating on whether Zaido will revive the Metal Heroes genre and if it’s going to be an official addition to the Space Sheriff Trilogy. I hope not.

This Zaido stuff is PURELY FANFICTION (a badly written one at that) in my eyes. Plain and simple.

In fairness, the dude who plays Ida (remember that pretty transvestite in Shaider whom everyone thought was a girl?) is so hot, he might as well play Annie.

Metal Heroes genre aren't all about dramatic romance which caters all the “indays” out there. True, Zaido is a total BAD WRITTEN fanfiction. D8>

Uh, the Zaido costumes were like cartons. Sorry, I'm terribly disappointed. XD
They should be called Carton Heroes then. Suits them better. XD

yep it is. they originally planned to use the original Shaider story, but toei didn't permit it so they came up with a sequel of sorts. which toei approved.

i still think of it as a fanfic.

the way i'll always think that RK: Seisohen is a fanfic.

I just noticed… The Galactic Force's insignia looks so much like the insignia of the U.N. Spacy in Macross and Robotech… Hmmm…. Coincidence?

Not until the outrage spilled on Mike Abundo's blog, and mine as well.
