Secret Recipe and Golden Spoon with the “Golden” Girls
Went out with my high school pals Cha and Tin and Tin’s girlfriend Rebie last Thursday (July 15), mainly because I realized we hadn’t had recent photos together. It was Toblerone’s latest contest about BFFs that reminded me. (Hopefully, I wouldn’t forget to participate in their contest.)
Our middle ground is Edsa Shangri-La, so we went to Secret Recipe. Cha doesn’t eat beef or pork so I recommended the restaurant’s Pan-Grilled Dory with Lobster Sauce (P320).
I took a photo of Cha’s because mine didn’t look as scrumptious; the sauce was already breaking apart. I had mine with Green Apple Kasturi (P120). Delicious concoction, that one.
Tin and Rebie arrived a bit later. Apparently, they ate dinner at 5PM, slept right after and just woke up when I texted them that I had arrived at the Shang. Cha and I were aghast — since the two have been sleeping too much lately — and we started calling them old ladies. We made fun of them further when Tin simply ordered some earl gray tea with milk (P75).
As the night unfolded, however, it turned out that Cha and I have been having “old ladies” symptoms ourselves. Cha has been forgetting a lot of things and my hearing has some major defects (this one’s very true, I am bingi). We started calling ourselves the “Golden Girls”.
And because Rebie is on a diet, we decided to have our dessert at the only yogurt place left open: Golden Spoon. I actually wanted to try Secret Recipe’s Hi Fiber Cheesecake (P160), but I’m also a sucker for yogurt, which I prefer more than ice cream.
The first Golden Spoon branch I’ve been to was the one in Paseo de Magallanes, since it’s so near my work place. Dan H. hates it, but I like the fact that there are so many flavors, I need not bother with toppings. My favorite is strawberry and peanut butter. The one I pictured above is a small serving of strawberry yogurt (P85).
The only thing I don’t like about Golden Spoon is the fact that they only have bottled water. Other than that, I have no complaints. (If you ask me what my ultimate yogurt place is, though, I’d tell you that it’s the one in Hobbes. And I can’t even pronounce its name.)
Anyhoo, I love connecting with my high school pals. Cha has this habit of trying to forget we came from Manresa, hahaha! Tin and Rebie, on the other hand, keep giving me funny books and movies. We really should do this more often. =^.^=
