2010 is almost over. Christmas baking time!!!

Three years ago, I blogged about my BFF Cris’s fabulous muffins and cookies. (Ignore the geek talk in the first two paragraphs of that post and scroll down to the goodies. LOL.) She was still my student then and that was two years before she went to Vancouver Film School to study 3D animation further.

Her baked goods are quite addictive, you see. Even my sister Alex could not stop talking about how much she wanted to chew on them even though she was already full.

A few weeks ago (yes, this is a late post), my sister, her boyfriend Pao, Cris and I decided to spend an entire day baking. Well, of course, Cris did the baking but we wanted to be Santa’s little helpers so…

Anyhoo, we had lots of fun. I couldn’t image Cris doing all that by herself but apparently, she manages. Since she sells these goods every Christmas season.

We started off with carrots, which had to be peeled and grated. I don’t really like that part, but doing it is oddly therapeutic.

This is my sister dealing with…well, I’m not really sure what that was. It doesn’t look like flour to me. It does seem to be…squishy, though. Hehe.

My favorite part: pounding the butter. It seems both my sister and I are talented at this. Cris said she hated doing this but we seem to be doing such a good and quick job of it. Yes, we enjoy pounding things to the ground…

Pao doing his share. The electric mixer actually stopped working so we had to settle for this manual mixer. I had difficulty with it.

Time to mix ’em all up! Mix, mix, mix, mix, mix! Like I said earlier, this activity is strangely therapeutic. If you’re super stressed, hit the kitchen, and pour all your frustrations onto that batter.

Filling the paper muffin cups. Cris does this methodically. I was amazed as I watched her.

Here are the “finished products”. Hihihi.

Banana walnut muffins!

Really chewy chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. My sister, Pao and I couldn’t get enough of these.

In fact, Alex already complained about her overly full tummy and aching head while her mouth was still prompting her to reach out for more of that chewy goodness.

Carrot cake fresh out of the oven.

We were so excited about taking a bite of that carrot cake that we forgot to let it cool down for a bit before topping it with frosting. The frosting sort of melted. It doesn’t usually look like this, although the glazed doughnut look doesn’t seem so bad.

You bet we savored every minute of this baking time.

I have yet to ask Cris how much she sells her goodies, but you can see her Christmas packaging in my old post.

as much as i love baking, and though several people have asked me to sell my goods, i can't stand the thought of baking ALL DAY. i did that once in my life (for my all-dessert bar birthday party) and i'm not inclined to do it again. 0_o grabe kapagod. in theory i can get people to help but i'm such a control-freak, i can't stand having other people in the kitchen. hehe, labo.

Yup, I saw the kind of hard work it entails. That's why I couldn't believe that Cris does this on her own every holiday season. Grabe. She would really need assistants.
