Konbini Japanese Store
Anyway, for those who aren’t familiar with Japanese, “konbini” actually stands for “convenient store”. It’s written in katakana (コンビニ), which means that it is a foreign word that the Japanese localized. It’s also pronounced as “kombini”.
Konbini is such a pleasant place to be in, as the interiors look so very zen. When you want to dine in, you can order at the cashier and then wait for your orders at the table. Unfortunately, I think the cashier wasn’t paying attention since we had to go back and re-order (TWICE) what she forgot. I took photos of the three receipts just in case anyone would like to verify this statement, hehe.
Anyhoo…we ordered our standard Japanese favorites: tempura and ramen. BUT I forgot to take photos of the 5-piece tempura set (PhP360.00) while it was still pretty and not yet eaten up.
This is what the interiors look like. Cozy, isn’t it? I could stay in here for hours on end.
Ooh, look what I got from the grocery store! It’s green tea flavored KitKat (PhP170). For non-Filipinos, you can actually order this online at JList. I love this! It’s probably one of the reasons I’d go back.
Shoyu Ramen (PhP180), an all-time favorite. This is like my healthy comfort food (since most of my comfort foods involve lots of potatoes).

May 25, 2011 at 4:27 amApparently, the Japanese are really kombini folks. There seems to be one at every corner, and they all appear to make money. According to one Japanese friend, the only other type of shop more ubiquitous than the kombini are dentists' clinics. 🙂
