Kate and William’s Wedding Cake
Screenshot of Mail Online‘s coverage. I saw the photos over at Mail Online, complete with the description, and I just drooled.
I’ve always been obsessed with wedding cakes. In fact, I buy wedding magazines (and gossip magazines with photos of celebrity wedding cakes) just to see these perfectly crafted confections.
According to the article, the cake was created by Fiona Cairns and her team. The entire masterpiece was made of fruit cake — apparently Kate and William’s favorite — topped with creamy white icing and 900 sugar-paste flowers. Read the full article to know what kind of flowers were featured.
Fruit cakes are tricky, of course. They’re very sturdy (you can be sure that fondant won’t sink into them) and last a long long long time, but it’s rare for me to find one that I absolutely love munching on. Perhaps royal bakers are very good at making them.
I swear this magnificent 8-tiered creation is just as beautiful as the royal lovebirds. Since I didn’t see the footage, I wonder how they managed to cut into it. I would probably struggle internally against cutting something that looks so divine.
Anyhoo, for those who are a little bit more romantic than I am, here’s BBC’s footage of the couple’s balcony kiss.

May 1, 2011 at 12:32 pmhaha, this royal wedding fever reminds me of the one of the most celebrated weddings back then, the sharon and gabby wedding, with all magazines such as Kislap, Moviestar, and Liwayway doing full cover. π
