Cebu Dining: CnT (C&T) Lechon

This seemingly artery-clogging delicacy is touted to be Cebu’s finest lechon (roasted pig), served by CNT.

I’m not a pork-eater. I’ve been avoiding it since high school, though I’ve started sampling pork dishes (once a month) recently. Heck, one look at this and I could feel my heart constrict. But you don’t experience Cebu everyday, so Cris and I decided to have breakfast at CNT on our second day. It happens to be just a couple of houses away from our hotel, Crown Regency in V. Rama.

Cebu is known for having the tastiest, crispiest lechon. CNT and Delia’s are among the best providers of these. (Though my dad insists that he prefers Delia’s, my sister and I can’t really tell the difference. Except when pitted against others.) This costs about PhP300 per kilo, and the smallest portion you can order is 1/4th.

That line was just starting at 11AM. We got our orders at around 12.30PM. That was how in-demand those pigs were. It was a good thing our scheduled appointment with a few Cebuano multimedia artists was moved to 6PM or we would have been horribly late.

By the time Cris got our 1/4th kilo of lechon, the people at the counter said that they had ran out. The next batch of lechon would arrive at 1PM. Ironically, Cris gave me that information while I was wondering how many pigs died each day for lechon restaurants…

We didn’t finish our order (our hearts were already screaming, “What’s going on!???”) and I actually had to apologize to the pig, for sacrificing himself to people who couldn’t even finish him off.

Hi, Nikki! Yeah, this is one of the rare times when I'd actually eat pork. (Aside from extra crispy bacon. Haha!)
