Disney’s Frozen (2013 film)

If there’s one movie you shouldn’t miss with your friends and family this year, (I can say The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug but) it’s Frozen. Especially for people my age who grew up with The Little Mermaid, Beauty and The Beast, and even those who have experienced watching older Disney films (our aunties had an entire collection of the earlier Disney Princess films), this particular animated feature might just bring you back to the old days where singing in cartoons was fun.

I can’t say much because I don’t really want to spoil it for you guys, but let’s just say Frozen brought old school back and merged it with progressively self-empowering (not the bratty, self-entitled kind) values. Like Merida in Brave, the two new Disney Princesses are definitely not your typical damsels-in-distress in need of the gallant white knight. There were certain instances that had me facepalming to death but it was negligible when you look at this feature holistically.

I have to admit there have been many recent musical animated features but none after Aladdin (not since lyricist Howard Ashman’s death) had anything remained glued in my head. That is, until I heard this:

(That was unmistakably Idina Menzel, Elphaba of Wicked, by the way.)

So go on. Grab your kids or your friends and see this movie before it disappears from the big screen!

Year 2013 is one of the most challenging yet the most unforgettable year for me. There had been so many ups and downs like a roller coaster ride this year. I have so many highlights and some “not-that-okay events.” One of those highlights was when I graduated from college last May 2013. My fourth year was like a road full of bumps. With so many priorities, I can't count how much I slept late, went to school with no sleep or cried. But if I wasn't able to experience those, I won't be able to learn to organize my schedules properly, multitask to the highest level and of course: to hold on to my faith longer.

After a month, I got hired. It was really unexpected because it is in an IT company. To be honest, I am really scared with coding. After how many months, I was able to learn more of coding, and learned to love it (and loving it more.) Though there are times that everything is stressful which gives me a massive headache because of the deadlines. It is a very challenging experience, really, but so far, I am happy with what I am doing. The stress is worth it.

This year, I learned to organize my time wiser and to face more challenges I find hard to deal with. I just take it as learning new things and be stronger whatever happens. And let me add one more: to SMILE and enjoy life. 🙂

My reflections this 2013 is to appreciate what you have because I resigned from my work not realizing that it's hard to apply for a new job. I totally regret my decision. I hope next year I can have a job already. 🙁

Honestly, there are a lot of things that I've learned this year.

I learned that all of your hard work pays off when you're determined and passionate on what you wanna do and if you have the support of those around you.

I also learned that I should learn to love myself more and appreciate what I can do. I should know my limits and not let people get the best of me. 😀

I also learned that there are times that things won't go your way and that's alright. It just means that your time will come really, really soon. 😀

Friendship is very crucial in one's life. Friends are there to stay by your side and assure you that things will be okay. They will love you no matter what and appreciate you. You can't please everyone but we should always remember that someone out there still believes and cares for you. 🙂

A lot of opportunities and losses were made this year and I'm glad that I've experienced them. It made me realize a lot of things as well as helped me become a better person. 😀

2013 has been a roller coaster ride for me. There were ups and downs in my life. I am thankful for what happened this year. I stepped out of my comfort zone and i was brave enough to move on to the next chapter of my life. Transferring to a new school may be tough at first, but i was able to cope up easily. I am very thankful to Him for giving me strength on every problems that i faced. 🙂

    Reflections on 2013
~Value Education: I always took my education for granted. I did mediocre on my tests and projects, and I didn't really do my best with my school work. Having stopped a year right after high school graduation, I came to realize that I loved learning, and I even missed school. I also realized that some people dont even get to go to school!
~YODO, not YOLO: Basically, we only DIE ONCE, but we LIVE EVERYDAY. After seeing the death toll on Yolanda, I realized that we will never know when we'll die. That totally changed my view on life.
~You can have a lot of friends, but only few real ones: Being lonely sucked, and I had a hard time looking for REAL friends to talk to.
~Don't just waste away. Live life.

Taking up the major subjects in my pre-med course is one of the reasons why the year 2013 is special for me. It reminded me how difficult, yet really fulfilling, it is to preserve the lives of other people. It also made me realize how valuable friends can be. Even though your family can sympathize with you to an extent, only your fellow s
tudents really know how hard it is to make it through weeks of no-sleep with only liters of coffee to keep you going :))

2013 was a bittersweet year. Well, more on the sweet side. Coming from a depressing 2012, I decided to acknowledge my demons and slowly let them go. I was not happy with my course, I didn't feel contented with my achievements, my social life was a mess.. so I broke down and cry. And that moment, I realized that many people were willing to help me and lend a hand to pull me up.

And then after that, many opportunities came knocking on my door. I had my very first international trip, I got admitted to the course and university that I wanted, and I made amends with my friends whom I have hurt.

2013 taught me how to acknowledge my weaknesses, and it made me realize that there is indeed a light at the end of the tunnel. Moreover, there are friends who got your back no matter what.

There are a lot of things happened this 2013. Like my graduation day last March. It was one of my unforgettable days because high school which is the happiest years in school already ended and I will truly miss closest friends. My first day in college is also memorable because i got to find new friends. Because of our friendship we also helped each other to have more enjoyable and easier college life.

2013 has been a very challenging yet rewarding year for me. I have graduated from college, landed on a management trainee position in the banking industry, one thing I never saw myself in and now I'm already an Associate Relationship Manager. Life's still pretty challenging.. I guess it will always be!
