Arya got spayed at King’s Road Vet Clinic

I wasn’t around when our Siamese cat Kira was spayed and my cousin JR’s vet clinic wasn’t up and running yet at that time, but for our Persian-Himalayan cat Arya, my siblings and I were in full support.

So we went to King’s Road Veterinary Clinic, which is owned by our cousin JR. He and Dr. Macenas didn’t want to spay her at first because she’s so purty!  I wanted her to experience having kittens first, but my sister is her primary owner (in my opinion, though, Arya looks up to Kira as her owner/master). Safety first. Arya has already been caught looking for males outside the house.

This activity of hers resulted in an ear mites infestation, which thankfully didn’t affect Kira. That was surprising, though, because Kira is obsessive about grooming Arya. Case in point, my sister’s Instagram photo of the two.

The spaying procedure was quick and Arya actually recovered quite well. When she woke up an hour later, she felt disoriented and was trying to move her hind legs.

She almost fell twice. The second time, I was trying to take a photo of her belly because it looks neater than how Kira’s looked when she was stitched up.

Um, yeah. That caught me off guard. She fell on my knee while trying to walk. But as you can see from her belly, her stitches are hidden. JR explained that this is the subcutaneous technique. This method makes your pet’s incisions look more presentable since the stitches are somehow done underneath the surface. Whatever that patch is, it’s antibacterial so you don’t have to repeatedly return to the clinic to have it cleaned or removed.

We had to use a cone and a cage to keep her from being overly active or from tampering with the patch.

Close-up shot, ganked from my sister’s Instagram site.

During this period, we noticed that Kira was being overly sensitive, as if she was the one that just got spayed. When Arya was resting in the cage, she’d make a ruckus. She’d call us and repeatedly lead us to the cage, seemingly asking help for Arya. Kira was so distressed over Arya’s weakness and she wasn’t happy watching Arya move her hind legs in vain. She’d really cry. If you are familiar with how noisy Siamese cats can get, you’d have an idea how Kira pumped up the guilt volume. The good thing about Kira’s motherly nature, though, is that she’d find ways to groom Arya so that probably helped speed up the recovery.

And this is what the whole of her looks like while wearing the cone (ganked from my younger brother Tim’s FB). She doesn’t seem to be as depressed as Kira was when Kira got spayed. Recovery’s looking good.

Anyway, for pet owners who are in the South area, you might want to check out King’s Road Veterinary Clinic and Pet Supplies.

Ay hahaha. Kira is actually more maliksi than Arya. Arya is so lazy, she barely moves even when she's not sick. Although…Arya seems to like toys more. Kira did not know what to do with the boxes my sister bought until she saw Arya playing with them.

OH, wow! 🙂 So your cousin owns that vet place pala. I wanted to bring our adopted cats when they had the free spay/neuter a few weeks ago, but they are still too young 🙁

Since you're related to the owner, I feel assured about bringing my pets to a reliable and trusted vet 🙂

Would you know how much the spay/neuter service is? 🙂

I think it was around 600-800? Saw it on the poster on the wall. It was a promo, I think.

Naku nakaka-miss ang dogs din. We have one in our Tagaytay home, a Belgian Malinois. Super bait and sociable.

We have a lot of cats (around 11, I think) and most of them are spayed, so I know what you're going through :)) One cat in particular was really noisy when we took her home after getting spayed/neutered. I didn't get any sleep that night due to her incessant meowing.

Haha, cats behave differently, I guess, depending on their species. Arya was the one who was spayed so she should've been the noisy one, but it was Kira who was making such a ruckus. Haha.

What breed are your cats? 🙂
