Review: Human Nature’s Perfect Coverage Mineral Foundation in Caramel

Wow. When I visited my parents during the 4-day weekend, I was happy to be greeted by the Perfect Coverage Mineral Foundation that Human Nature sent over for review. Thing is, I was kind of at a loss how to go back to wearing make-up because I threw nearly all my cosmetics after my battle with bad case of allergy attack. In short: except for my eyebrow grooming kit and my trusty lip balm, I have been make-up free for the last couple of months.

Here’s a photo of the product box:
And then here’s what it looks like inside:
The color they sent me is “caramel”, which surprisingly matches my skin tone perfectly.

Anyhoo, so that I could do  comparison shots, I took a photo of myself in my “bagong gising at walang suklay o hilamos” look (just rolled out of bed, didn’t comb, didn’t wash face). I can already imagine my cousin firesenshi shuddering in distaste, haha!
Ok, haha, eye bags galore!!! Anyhoo, so that’s how I look like when my eyebrows are not groomed. Let this be the BEFORE pic.
The AFTER pic. What I used:
Laneige Snow BB Cream SPF41/PA++ for my eye contour area (not whole face, still used my regular sunblock for my whole face). My concealers went into the garbage bin and this was the only substitute I could think of. I didn’t have the heart to throw it away, thinking that maybe someday I could use it again, if only for its incredible sunscreen features.

Human Nature’s Perfect Coverage Mineral Foundation in Caramel for the whole face.

Shu Uemura Drawing Pencil in ME brown for my eyebrows.

Maybelline Master Liner in brown-black for my eyes. I threw away my shadows and mascaras so it’s just plain liner for me now (didn’t expect that any cosmetics company will send me products for review so…meep).

Ellana Lip and Cheek Tint for the apples of my cheeks. Needed this now because the foundation thoroughly covered the natural color of my cheeks.

Maybelline Color Bloom lip balm. This is actually my favorite lip balm because it doesn’t feel greasy and it turns pinkish after some time.
I also wanted to test the foundation’s lasting effects so I took another picture after walking to work. My office is twenty minutes away from my condo and I’d always take the stairs instead of the elevator so yup, I worked up a good sweat before entering my room.
I’m actually liking this product because it’s not too obvious that I wore make-up. Not even my superfriend could tell that I was wearing anything on my face at all.  What I liked about this is that it really covered all my moles (I have gazillions of them) so that only the big ones are visible.
I’m not quite sure about the oil-free feature because I’m really really oily. Though I noticed that I didn’t get oily until around 4PM.  I’m not a fan of retouching so I usually just dab some Mary Kay Oil Mattifier on my t-zone to fix that.
Contest possibilities?
Anyhoo, if you’re interested in me holding a contest for this product, do let me know. Just come back for your prize, if ever I do announce the results, hehe, because the winner of my lipstick contest still hasn’t claimed hers.

I'm super minimalist when it comes to cosmetics, largely due to the fact that I don't have the skills to apply eyeliner and such, haha. I'm happy with just powder and tinted lip balm (or even just petroleum jelly).

But I've always been interested in mineral makeup. I'm probably most concerned about them spilling out in my cosmetics bag, especially if they're loose and are contained in jars. But this is pressed right? Hopefully it doesn't crack easily. I'm a bit wary with that kind of container. I previously had a face powder packaged similarly but it cracked after just a few weeks of use (probably also due to my attempting to clear the residue by lightly tapping it) and I almost lost the contents of the entire tray, haha!

Ah. Good point! Looks like I would have to test it out and see how long it will last without cracking.

Uy ha naka-Laneige ka na pala! The last pic looks great, parang walang foundation. 😀

Haha napawisan na kasi ng husto kaya siguro nag-settle.

I didn't have the heart to throw the Laneige away eh. Pero after going “no make-up” for months, parang di na ako makabalik sa tinted unless I want to cover up eye bags (na nagmamanifest na ulit dahil sa lack of sleep).

Ah that would really be too dark for you. Caramel is just right for me kasi. Akala ko nga it would be too dark, pero tama lang. Sa iyo siguro two shades lighter than that.
