Lords and Colonies: Our new Facebook game!

Oh, wow, I haven’t updated for quite some time. (Because I am now married to my employer, Anino Games, Inc. and UP Diliman is my mistress. Can you name any other lethal combination? If I’m to compare it to George R. R. Martin’s Game of Thrones, Anino feels like King’s Landing — what with all the organizations and activities attached to it — and UP is Winterfell.) And apparently, in the two weeks that I was gone, Blogger did a lot of changes. New interface, whoa!

In any case, we have just launched a new Facebook game called Lords and Colonies (boy, did we spend quite some time arguing over what to call it). Developed by Anino Games, Inc. and published by 6Waves, it’s a social strategy game that has an RPGesque feel to it.

This is a screenshot of my entire tribe. You can see my sprite guarding that largest house.

The premise of this game is that you have three classes to choose from: Night Elves, Humans and Orcs. And then, like most sim games, you get to build your village and make it flourish.

Well, I chose to be an Orc. I guess it’s because I think I kinda resemble the female Orc. Hahaha!

The thing that’s kind of difficult to do here is that you go to war and colonize friends. I do hate doing that, but I like seeing my tribe grow.

This battle with an Undead Lord was triggered by one of my quests. This is where the RPGesque feel comes in.

This is a screenshot of one of my neighbor’s village. For now, you can spy on them, invade them or fast forward the growth of their crops.

The Lords and Colonies team is already working towards an expansion that would allow us to do more. (Besides the fact that its Anino producer, Michael Carranceja, has been actively gathering feedback for features improvement…and he’s been getting an earful from me. Bwahahaha!)

And here are the credits from Anino’s side:

Oh, and yeah, the music was composed by Kane Aoki, a graduate of De La Salle – College of Saint Benilde. Congratulations, team! This is one of the games we’ve released that I’m really really proud of. Looking forward to the expansion!

Contest Alert!!!
Oh yeah…I just noticed that this is also my 500th post, so now I have some reason to give away a P500 Yellow Cab gift certificate.

I will be hunting for the best comments now (in my entire blog) and then award the gift certificates by October 8, 2011.

Toxic lang, grabe. Malapit na rin kasi magrelease yung two games ko so ako naman ang sinasalang sa apoy. Plus may thesis proposal defense pa ako in between the two releases. Hay. Kakapagod din.

Oh wow, I didn't realize you worked for a video game company. That's so freaking awesome! This game looks like fun too. 😀 I'd love to try it but I've been avoiding Facebook games (and gaming in general) because I know I'll never get any work done once I get hooked.

Hi, Lauren! Nice to see you here. 😀 Oh don't worry, we have other games that aren't FB-based. I might invite you to test them sometime, although they're casual (and easy to finish). My sister usually playtests them for me.
