Birthday 2011 Food Trips: ZsaZsa Zaturnnah Fail, Army Navy, Chelsea, Cupcakes by Sonja

My sister’s birthday surprise for me was a ticket to Zsa Zsa Zaturnnah’s 3PM showing. So Cris and I decided to have lunch at the CCP area.

Unfortunately, when we got to CCP, the guard told us that all shows scheduled for March 5, 2011 have been canceled due to some lighting problems. Our schedule had been moved to March 13.

Anyway, since we were already at the CCP, I said that I wanted to try Army Navy’s burger, which I had failed to sample during our last visit.

Um, that burger? I felt it in my tummy till 7PM. That was how heavy it was. But it was so goood, so juicy, soooooo…

The only Army Navy branch I visit is this (Harbor Square), since you’re sitting at the second floor and it’s open air…you don’t smell like grilled meat after eating.

They finally have Freedom Fries. The last time we dropped by, these were out of stock. They’re very flavorful. No wonder people rave about them all the time.

This is another one of their popular beverages, LiberTea. Hm. It tastes similar to the brewed iced tea we enjoy at Asia Pacific College’s cafeteria.

Now this is heavenly: crispy bacon strips with warm and fluffy pancakes. If you’re looking for the ultimate comfort food, this is it!

After work — yea, we have work on Saturdays — we decided to have dinner at the Fort. Since Elvert mentioned before that he wanted to eat at Chelsea Market and CafΓ©, Cris and I wanted to try it.

I wasn’t too pleased with how Chelsea’s indoors looked like. I felt like it had too many people. We opted to sit outside, where we could see the lovely kitchen. And yeah, we lusted after that oven.

I took a photo of the interiors, too. It looks lovely. I just don’t want to be around too many people, hehe.

Anyway, Chelsea seems expensive at first glance. Nothing goes below PhP250, if I remember correctly. The servings are huge, though, so I think they’re still perfectly reasonable.

Complimentary bread with balsamic vinegar. Yummy!

Cris loves bread so she single-handedly finished this off.

Butternut squash and marinated goat cheese soup. It’s supposedly good for one person but jeez…not even Cris could help me finish it off.

I love Bundaberg!!!

Our main course, giant prawns.Β  I’m not quite sure what this dish’s name is, but it’s delicious. (According to MrsM, these are Jumbo Prawns.) Of course, I needed the taste of sarsaparilla to give my tongue a breather because this is very rich.

Cupcakes by Sonja that served as my mini birthday cakes. These happen to be my favorite flavors: Red Velvet, Lemon Drop and Berry Delight.

Gosh. I was so full, I thought I got tired from all the eating. Haha! Needless to say, it was quite a satisfying day. =^.^=

Yeah, I noticed that every time I look at my Army Navy photos (including the ones I posted months before), I get hungry. Kalurks.

I read about the lighting problem and cancellation of the show in Twitter. If I can recall it right, I think Army Navy has a branch here in Quezon City. We can schedule our next tweet up there. I want to taste the juicy burger! And of course the brewed iced tea! BTW, the name of the giant prawn order is Jumbo Prawns at PP550 hehe I love the icing on top of Red Velvet. I don't like the cupcake though hehe

Waaaaah!
