What are you doing this Valentines? I will be venting.

I’m actually a bit upset right now and it’s not because I’m single or a don’t have a friggin’ date. While everyone is spending time with their loved ones, I’m in my art studio, sulking over my third artwork. Which actually got ruined. Was so upset over its ruination — because doing it took me a whole day — that I nearly destroyed my second work, too.

I’ve been breaking my back for my raw materials for months and come execution, I suddenly find myself still lacking time.

My group’s exhibit is on Friday…

It had been moved from December to January to February. It slipped our collective minds that February is National Arts month. So instead of me executing my artworks early, I ended up using the last two weeks literally hunting wood. From Quiapo to Recto to Quiapo and back to Recto. Because all carpenters are busy doing other artists’ canvases.

In the end, I had to resort to carpentering my own stuff. The process was enjoyable, don’t get me wrong. I felt I was able to finally shut off my brain and let my hands do their thing. I fell into a trance and though my body ached so much in the following days, my mind felt strangely relaxed.

I’ll post about the process (for art students) at Sarimanok.PH. For now, let me just sulk a little bit more while I think about my next move. I wish I could clone myself. Really.

The funny thing is, I wanted to post about Human Nature’s Love Minerals lip balm but…I just needed to vent. I had enough grief being a designer for other people in my younger years, and now that I’m doing this for myself…I guess frustrations just can’t be avoided whatever one does. I’m only human, after all. Let me just have my emo artist moment. LOL! (Now lang naman! Am savoring this; it kinda helps the creative juices flow.)

Anyway, best of luck to our group!! (Exhibit details can be found here.)

I know how it's like working on something for the whole day then it gets destroyed 🙁 I want to give you a big HUG.

You can have more emo artist moments!!! Don't deprive yourself of emotional release. You work hard.

I remember one line in a Julia Roberts movie where she went, “I don't even have time to have a nervous breakdown…”

🙂 Best best best of luck to your group!

    Best,
    Janey

Thanks. Huhuhu. I needed that. I got set back by a whole day, but I hope I can recover all of that by tomorrow. 🙂
