Holiday Glam with Maybelline

Last Saturday, I was invited to two workshops: Maybelline’s and L’Oreal’s. Unfortunately, due to the horrible state of our Metro Manila traffic during the -Ber months (had to be in SMX by 6PM), I was only able to stay for Maybelline’s. The workshop was held at SM Makati’s Prestige Lounge and it was one of the most helpful beauty talks I’ve ever attended.

Above: Maybelline New York’s chief make-up artist Harold Santos, working on our model.

I learned a lot of things like:

  1. How to position your mirror when doing make-up so you don’t have to move your facial muscles so much.
  2. How to make your eyes bigger.
  3. How to brighten up your face through your eyebrows. This I really appreciated because I have long known how much eyebrows can completely change one’s demeanor.
  4. How to use blush highlights…

And many other very helpful tips.

I was very fascinated with this mirror.
Look at how it reflects the other parts of the room.

The SM Prestige Lounge all dressed up for the beauty workshop.

The 60s look is in for this season.

For bright, happy eyes: wear two-tone eyeshadow and nude lips.

How to do winged tips (cat eyes). I have a hard time doing this so I closely observed how it was done.

Looks like my natural ‘do is in for this season. Hehe.

I’ve already reviewed the Maybelline Clear Smooth Minerals BB Cream, and I’ve noted its affordability and easy blendability. Here are the other Maybelline products I’d love to try.

Eye Studio Brow Definist Eyebrow Duo Palette (PhP359). I need to find an eyebrow palette with just the right shade of dark brown. The wrong shade makes my eyebrows look red and unnatural. Plus this is supposed to be made of wax, so it’ll also physically shape your brows.

Eye Studio Lasting Drama Gel Liner (PhP449). To practice the winged tips with.

Volum’Express Hypercurl Cat Eyes Mascara Hello Kitty Limited Edition (PhP499). I know they were promoting the Maybelline Pulse Perfection Vibrating Mascara, but this is Hello Kitty. I like Hello Kitty! And it’s limited edition.

Di ba?? I super want to try the Hello Kitty.

I stopped using Shu Uemura brow liner last year and opted for Maybelline's drawing pencil, which is just a liiiiiittle bit softer than Shu's. Unfortunately, they make my brow red. That's why I want to try this palette. πŸ™

Shu had the perfect shade of dark brown. I also liked their metallic black liner.

I've heard good things about their mascara. I've got a ton of stuff from Korean shops, but I'm keeping an eye on the Maybelline stuff when I run out, haha.

oh! i thought ikang was the model (based on the first picture), hehe. i hope someone reviews the brow definer soon. i think it's been around for a while but i haven't seen it in stores. it's so difficult to find the perfect brown: it's either too red or almost gray. πŸ™

Wow, I thought she looked kind a bit like Ikang too (when they were doing her make-up), except this model has pale skin. As for the brow definer, I had a hard time looking for it. All stores I went to said they were out of stock.

Shu Uemura actually had the perfect brown. It's just too expensive so I had to search for alternatives. LOL.
