Pond’s Flawless White

Rating:
Category: Other

I got this bundle as a prize for one of those things I wrote and submitted to a magazine. So yeah, it’s a freebie. The irony of it was that I was writing about the health benefits of organic products. One look at the set’s ingredients listing is enough to tell you that it’s far from being organic.

It took me a while to actually give it a try because:

  1. I invest a lot of money on self-tanners. Why would I want to reverse that by using whitening products? Isn’t it a bit silly to use these things when I’d be covering myself with bronzers before I go out of the house anyway?
  2. Pond’s has never been good to my skin. As a teenager, their facial wash caused me to break out. In my twenties, their Pond’s Cold Cream make-up remover — compounded by the fact that I’m allergic to most make-up — irreversibly ruined the texture of my face.

Anyway, I suddenly found myself on a tight budget one day, just when I had consumed the last drop of my moisturizer. So I thought that maybe I could use this. Thought that maybe it could get rid of my moles or dark spots. Thought that maybe, this being the 21st century, Pond’s had stopped coming up with disastrous formulas.

I should’ve followed my instincts. They’re usually more sensible than my brain. >>> REVIEW CONTINUED AT COOLAY.COM >>>

LULz, I got them as a freebie from work so I use them. Pond's dries my face so I use a different moisturizer all together =P

The whitening shit are crap, surmise to say. (I hope none of my bosses get to read this though XD)

actually, pond's is one of those mid-ranged to low-ranged na products. it's a drugstore brand kasi. pinatulan ko na lang kasi LIBRE.

my brand talaga kasi is Origins. yun ang closest to organic that i could get. (most true organic brands kasi are too…mild.)

my mom has been using Clarins ever since. may stage na nag-Clarins din ako kaya lang kasi perfume-y ang scent niya. ayoko ng may scent.

ms bea.. so true na matapang ang ponds… pero why not try using dove afterwards? kase im using ponds and dove (w/ my sensitive skin) and its been ok naman..

  10. Bea Lapa

    February 28, 2009 at 2:16 pm

wow. my mom use clarins too. anyway tried ponds one time for the oil control cleanser churva and guess it dried my skin too much and thus my face reacted by generating more oil and caused break out. T___T so after that One day, i never went back to ponds.

exactly what happened to me when i was a teenager. may facial wash sila noon na targeted specifically for oily teenaged skin. asar talaga as in nagwala yung skin ko.

Ponds doesn't work! At all. Haha. Or sometimes works too much. Anyway.. Try nyo po the VMV Hypoallergenics line. As the name suggests, it's really good for people who are allergic-everything (like me). Scent-free, non-comodogenic, no preservatives.. Practically no chemicals. =)

  15. Bea Lapa

    February 28, 2009 at 3:09 pm

i was using VMV. that was my last pero it's not as potent as Origins talaga eh. na-miss ko tuloy ang Origins. VMV was the moisturizer ko na naubos kaya ako gumamit ng libreng Pond's.

i'm still using the facial scrub and sunblock ng VMV, though. the best talaga yung facial sunscreen niya eh. it locks in my bronzers.

pero ingat ka, yung face powders ng VMV may talc. if you inhale too much of it…well, carcinogen siya eh.

    February 28, 2009 at 3:19 pm

Exactly po! It works well even if you put makeup on with it. =) I only use the facial scrub-toner-moisturizer line nila. =)

actually, it's a very good make-up base. as in. madami na akong nagamit na sunblock before, even yung sinasabi nilang make-up base na may SPF (like sa face shop_), pero ito talaga kumakapit. yung super mahal na P2,100 laura mercier na make-up base doesn't hold it as well as VMV does, wala pang SPF.

If you're pro organic, you should try Lush. They're against animal testing too, so they're cool to me.

Kaloka, nag-Ponds ka na nga talaga! I must say though na kahit papaano mas matino na yan sa akin compared to that @$#! Olay Total Effects.

  22. Bea Lapa

    March 1, 2009 at 10:28 am

matino yung Olay Regenerist sa akin so far. no stingin and no itchiness. i think yung Regenerist yung higher end nila for now sa Pinas eh kasi sa US nasa Olay Pro-X na yung latest na ilalaban daw nila sa La Mer.

  23. Bea Lapa

    March 1, 2009 at 10:29 am

haaaaay…i had to do a bit of research ngayon lang on the L'Oreal mineral stuff. kaya pala ako nangangati. it has 2 of the most dangerous ingredients (when it comes to my skin): TALC (hazardous if inhaled) and bismuth oxychloride. kaya pala nagtataka ako bakit may expiry eh dapat walang expiry ang minerals. may mga synthetic chemicals pala.

    and they do animal testing…

i don't really get why scientists would do testing on animal skin for human products when we don't have the same skin as they do.

Ah di ko pa nasubukan yun Regenerist. Di ba amoy foundation? Yun Total Effects dati kadiri eh, amoy cheap foundation.

i checked out http://www.olayforyou.com. turns out that olay total effects are for 20-somethings who are praning about aging (LOL, joke lang about the praning part). and the saleslady said preventive daw siya while regenerist is for repair, like, you may be 20-something but you abuse yourself by smoking, drinking etc.

she was offering me total effects kasi meron din silang fragrance-free and SPF-free para talaga sa mga highly allergic.

regenerist is for 30-50 year olds. medyo perfume-y ang smell. the type i remember smelling sa 1st floor ng rustan's. yun lang di ko gusto, the perfume-y smell. yung Pro-X naman daw nila, amoy gamot (seryosong fragrance-free nga) pero nawawala naman daw pag na-absorb na ng skin.

i'm still using Olay total effects and it seems to be okay for me until now. Nag try ako ng equivalent ng total effects sa Ponds (forgot the name) dati, and unfortunately, lalo pa ata na dry skin ko. So I switched back to Olay. Naglalagay lang ako when i notice something wrong like a new wrinkle or dark spot. Pero pag wala, d rin ako naglalagay. I know that kinda beats the “preventive” point ng product, pero I'm not too fond of sleeping with icky stuff on my face kasi. >_< sa iyong experience, Bea, are these products really true to their "prevention" promises? since d ko masyado inaalagaan face ko ngayon, oh fate help me when I do get major problems. mukhang sisingilin ako soon. XD

i stopped using eye creams two years ago kasi mahal ang brand ko (Origins, only in Rustan's). i saw the effect immediately. hindi ako makapag-puyat kasi kita agad in the morning how tired i am. puffy eyes galore, circles etc. praning din ako sa wrinkles dati but i noticed that i don't wrinkle that easily pala. puffiness is more my problem. i've seen many young twenty-somethings with more wrinkles than i do.

i'm using Nivea Visage DNAge now and it's not as good as Origins. ang gusto ko kasi sa expensive brands, hindi sila icky. wipe them on and they're quickly absorbed by the skin. and you don't need to slather on too much kasi a little goes a long long long long way. matagal maubos. i can visibly see the difference na kahit pagod ako, it seems like i had 8 hours of sleep.

kaso ayan, nagtitipid. i just moved into my own condo (may monthly amortization yun and stuff) with my sister. tapos ang daming construction etc. inuuna ko yun i-repair bago yung skin ko. hahahahaha!

    March 12, 2009 at 9:00 am

ah. tinanong din pala kita dun sa condo photo album kung san and how much ung amortization nun and financing. san sha?

i've been using l'oreal eye creams sa eyes ko, 2 pump-bottles, one red and one blue. but i havent been applying them din lately. tamad talaga. :P. i'll try Nivea Visage DNAge after maubos ng olay total effects ko. grabe. can't imagine using these things when a few years back e kahit safeguard lang ginagamit ko sa face ko e walang problema. Ngayon andaming fuss and gastos. Gosh!

hay totoo yan! sobrang nakakatamad nga talaga ilagay. kaya nung dumating yung time na di ko na puwedeng i-neglect (kasi humahapdi na mukha ko sa dryness na talagang kelangan na lagyan ng cream), i bought the expensive products kasi ayaw ko ng grease feeling.

as for the condo, pioneer highlands. it's that orange building na katapat ng robinson's pioneer. marc reyes lives there, too. hahaha! mom ko kasi unang bumili nun pero tinutuloy na lang namin ang payments now. one year something na lang remaining eh.

    March 15, 2009 at 8:13 pm

aha! i know where marc lives. napunta na kami dati nun, some eons back. i remember na kasama pa namin si nicco nuon, long hair pa sha. so malapit lang pala. how nice.
